One day in Rio de Janeiro means choosing the icons and moving with purpose, so this plan links the two great summits with the historic core and the shore. Begin high on Corcovado while the morning light is soft and crowds are thin, then drop into colourful Lapa and Centro for photos and a classic lunch. In the afternoon cross to Urca for the Sugarloaf cable car, ideally timed for golden light over the bay. Close on the sand at Copacabana before finishing at Arpoador, where locals applaud the sunset. Distances between zones are real, so use taxis or ride apps to save time, and book Corcovado and Sugarloaf tickets in advance to skip the longest queues.
